The Columbia University Club of Chicago encourages all Columbia University alumni, students and family, current and former faculty and staff residing in the Chicago area to join. Members of the club belong to an active, vibrant community pursuing the intellectual, cultural, humanitarian, and social endeavors of Columbia University in the City of New York in a collegial milieu here in Chicago .

Sampling of club activities:

§ Lectures by University faculty and by prominent Chicago-area Columbians: topics will cover a broad spectrum of member interests including health and science, business and entrepreneurship, literature, history, the arts, law, and politics.

§ Social and cultural events: wine-tastings, happy hours, annual social gatherings, tours of local attractions, art and musical outings, and sporting events to name a few.

§ Community activities: tutoring, mentoring, and coaching programs at local schools as well as the annual Columbia Community Outreach Day.

§ The club newsletter — the Columbian Exposition — with information on club events along with local news and interviews.

§ Club website with newsletter items and more.

§ Club-negotiated special discounts at selected businesses.

§ Database of local members including the Blue Pages — a directory of local member’s businesses and services. (Please note that all information is made available on an opt-in basis)

Membership is extended to the following Columbia affiliates:

§ Alumni: all graduates of Columbia University’s undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools

§ Faculty and staff of the University, current and former

§ Current students of any of the University’s schools

§ Parents and guardians of current students

§ Surviving spouses of Columbia affiliates

Annual dues are applied on a calendar year basis. Dues are not tax-deductible. All membership benefits apply at no additional charge to immediate family and friends of club members. All Donor and Patron dues in excess of the Regular rate go towards the support of the Club’s community service activities.

Membership rate categories are as follows (see application form for the current rates):

§ Standard: non-Decade Club alumni, parents, faculty and staff, surviving spouses. Rates are at three levels: General, Donor and Patron.
(Donor and Patron members will be acknowledged in the Club’s Annual Report.)

§ Special:

Decade Club: undergraduate alumni who have graduated within the last 10 years

Complimentary (current Chicago-area students of any Columbia undergraduate, graduate, or professional school and first-year undergraduate alumni (CC & SEAS)
